June 29th is William "Bill" Kenney's 96th birthday!! For those who don't know who he was; Bill Kenney was Roanoke and Salem's most well known, and beloved businessman and humanitarian! He owned several businesses in his career. But is most known for Kenney's Drive in, a Roanoke based chain of burger restaurants that once had over 50 dotting Roanoke, scattered all over VA and WV from the 1950's to the early 1980's. Creating fond memories for countless people over several generations!! Bill touched many lives, and after closing his restaurants in 1982; he went on to do work for Habitat for Humanity. Raising over $100,000 over the years by making, and selling his famous sauce. Donating the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity, helping house those in need, and a place for families to create memories for years to come.
